Thirty-six students from Syracuse University's schools and colleges, selected by the dean of their school spent a weekend in teams to generate unique solution to increase the effectiveness of businesses through the mode of various social media technologies and methodology. Throughout the course of this brain drain, various professionals in the field were brought in as examples to broaden the students' understanding of Social Media.
Jacob's Cure is a non-profit organization founded by Jordana Holovach to save her son, Jacob, who was diagnosed with Canavan Disease at six months old. The research funded by Jacob's Cure has slowed or halted the progression of the disease in most of the children who received gene-therapy and have begun the recommended pharmacological regimen. While there is currently no cure for Canavan Disease, Jacob's Cure is funding a stem cell trial that aims to further treat and ultimately cure Canavan disease. This stem cell research may very well revolutionize the manner in which "white matter" neurological diseases, such as Parkinson's, MS and ALS, are treated and will be a model for their cure.

Studio Mercury created a series of short videos to generate awareness of the disease over the past two years. Venues that displayed these videos include benefit events, the web, and New York City TaxiTV.

Anish Kapoor's "Memory" is a site-specific installation that uses corten steel to convey the fragmentation and abstraction of one's access to memory. Existing within a room with limited points of viewing, the patron is challenged to interpret the physicality of the sculpture, and experience the work in a spacio-visual manner.

The video outlines these aspects of "Memory" through a series of interview snippets with curator Sandhini Podar and the artist himself.

"Kandinsky" is a 5-minute video made by Studio Mercury for the Guggenheim Museum in New York. An interweaving of interview with the show's head curator and conservator, the video aims to shed light on the history of the museum's relationship with the artist and his work, the breadth of the show, and the frequently unseen conservation research behind an exhibition of its scope.

Syracuse University proudly hosted a weekend of brainstorming and collaboration aimed at mitigating bright flight in Upstate New York. Thirty-six of the brightest students from Cornell University, the University of Rochester, and Syracuse University came together for a charrette to find creative solutions to one of the toughest problems facing Upstate New York: retaining our brightest and best, post-graduation.

The 36 students, selected from various disciplines, schools and colleges, were split into six interdisciplinary groups. COLAB staff and faculty from each of the universities were on hand to assist as needed. In between the work sessions, the students had the opportunity to hear guest lecturers from various leaders from the Upstate New York region, including alumni from their schools, both those who stayed and those who left after graduation.

In the same way a callus is formed, so is our professional development perfected by repetitive action. The installation in the main lobby of the “The Warehouse” became an expression of the University’s design departments to all its visitors.

Photographic scenarios were composed of artists and makers performing actions used in their practice. Movements were filmed and algorithmically translated into line drawings highlighting the relationship of the maker’s hands and tool used in moments of time. The drawings were applied on top of the images as an expression of the learning development within a design practice.
