FREE RANGE, RISD MFA Sculpture Show, Exhibition Catalogue, 2009
Describing the conceptual nature of sculpture requires an expression of the same symbolism. Presented during the opening of the exhibition, the catalogue gave visitors an alternate lens to the intentionality and philosophy of the participating artists.
The faux snakeskin cover was a reaction to the animalistic and textural nature of the work in the exhibition. As the essays were an intimate conversation, so was the size of the catalogue. Custom cattle ear tags became a conceptual side-stitching approach and a way to date and number the limited edition.
